Root Ball Hornbeam plants are only available to buy and plants throughout November - March, but can be pre-ordered at any time outside of the bare root season.
As Hornbeam is a semi-evergreen species, it will cling onto its rich copper-coloured leaves throughout Winter. During Spring, it will even showcase pretty, little, green catkins that turn to fruits in Autumn (which wildlife animals love to enjoy!).
Carpinus betulus is a resilient, durable species, hence the given name 'Hornbeam'- which is an old, original, English saying for 'hard tree.'
You can easily mix Hornbeam with other types of native hedging species to create a fantastic array of year-round colour.
