Pruning & Care
As soon as you receive your bare root plant, place it into a bucket of water for at least w2 hours. The roots must be wet when planted.
If needed, you should only prune in Winter, following these steps:
- Cut stems down on a slope, no more than 5mm above a bud.
- cut to the appropriate height if you do not see any visible dormant buds.
- Ensure your cuts are clean- keep secateurs sharp. You may need to use a pruning saw/pair of loppers for larger, thicker stems.
- Cut away any diseased/dead/congested stems.
- For mature plants, cut away any old wood that's failing to produce new stems.
