About Spindle 'Jean Hugues'
The Euonymus Jean Hugues is the ideal hedging for traditional gardens, as well as creating borders on pathways. This is due to the fact it is a very easy plant and to keep trimmed and neat, and the foliage will remain a stunning dark-green year-round. Even better, the Euonymus Jean Hugues is a great alternative to the Box as it does not have the risk of getting Box blight.
It is a low growing shrub, with a particularly hardy nature, and is sprinkled with fragrant flowers that come through in June/July. You really will be treated with lovely colours all year.

How To Plant̴Ì?Spindle Jean Hugues
When should I plant Spindle Jean Hugues hedging?
The best time to plant Euonymus Jean Hugues is early spring (March/April), or early autumn (September/October).
How far apart do you plant Spindle Jean Hugues plants?
Similarly, to other Euonymus varieties, Jean Hugues will easily grow to a lovely, bushy, dense hedge if initially planted around 25-35cm apart.
How to plant̴Ì?Spindle Jean Hugues:
Begin by removing any weeds or rocks etc., from the planting area. Then go on to digging a hole that is about twice as wide as the root ball, but the same depth. Break the soil up a little using your spade, around the sides and bottom, to prevent any soil compaction. Replace around 2 inches of soil.̴Ì?
Remove your Euonymus Jean Hugues from its pot, taking away any dead roots that you can see, and loosen the root ball up a little - this helps to encourage the roots to spread out and establish further.
Place the plant into the hole and make sure the base (bottom of stem), is around 2 inches above ground level. Backfill the hole with the excess soil and press down at the base to secure the plant.
Finish off by giving the plant a good watering around the base. Ensure you continue to water weekly, and more so during dry spells/summer. Ensuring you water enough is very important, as the roots require plenty to be able to grow and develop effectively.̴Ì?
