Azalea Japanese 'Arabesk'
(20/30cm Pot Grown)

Japanese Azalea 'Arabesk' is an evergreen variety, being one of the most popular features in home gardens for its stunning blooms but low-maintenance nature, from the middle to end of Spring. Find out more

Azalea 'Arabesk' is a showy shrub, with large amounts of beautiful, dark red flowers and bold stamens that bloom throughout May. It's dark, evergreen leaves change to burgundy throughout the Autumn/Winter months, creating an extra level of interesting colour, too.

With it being slow growing, 'Arabesk' makes the perfect, compact shrub- ideal for any garden of yours!

It will reach an ultimate height and spread of 1.2m-1.5m within 10 years.

It is best to plant Azalea 'Arabesk' in full sun or partial shade, and in well-draining but moist soil. Do not plant too deep as the roots are shallow.

  • Growth rate: Slow (10-20cm per year)
  • Ideal height: 1.2m-1.5m Medium
  • Soil type: Clay, sandy, dry
  • Exposure: Sheltered
  • Aspect: Partial shade
  • Evergreen foliage? Yes

You can clip your Japanese Azalea to shape in early June, but if doing so, do not apply any fertiliser afterwards (as we recommend with normal pruning), as this will boost growth and therefore spoil the desired shape you're trying to achieve.

General pruning, like trimming away dead/diseased/damaged branches, and removing spent flowers, should be done immediately after flowering has finished- following with some mulch and feed.
