The hedge can even produce a second round of flowers in late Summer, through to Autumn, but only if the stems are cut back by 20-30cm in May (after flowering). Elsewise, for the remainder of the year, you are still guaranteed lush glossy-green, dark, evergreen foliage.

You will generally need to get rid of dead shoots, as well as weak or old ones, around June time; this will help promote new, strong, growth. If you are wanting to see a second flush of flowers, you will need to shorten the stems by 10-12in after flowering.
