Choisya Ternata does best in moist, well-draining soil, and when placed in partial shade. It can, however, tolerate pretty much any soil type, and will also grow well in full sun. In general, it's quite a hardy little shrub that will tolerate many conditions. Choisya 'Sundance' also has no toxic effects reported, to most animals.
Choisya 'Sundance' has an average growth rate, and will look best when kept between 1-2m for a more traditional shape. Alternatively, you can leave it to grow naturally to create a homely, informal appearance.
- Growth height: Average (20-40cm per year)
- Ideal height: 1.5-2.5m Medium
- Soil type: Chalk, clay, loam, sand
-
Exposure: Sheltered
- Aspect: Full sun, partial shade
- Evergreen foliage? Yes
Due to being an evergreen shrub, once established, it will require little or no regular pruning. Once established, if wanting to prune, do so at the beginning of spring, just before new growth starts.
Be sure to prune out any damaged, dead, or diseased growth. Thin out any crowded shoots and give it a good mulching/feeding.
