Hawthorn hedging produces white flowers in Spring, and red haws during Autumn. As you can imagine, it's the ideal hedge for birds and insects, as they love to munch on the haws, and the thorny, dense foliage gives birds a lovely place to protect and shelter themselves.̴Ì?

Crataegus monogyna can reach an ultimate height of 8m but it is best maintained at 5m. With its hardy nature, it can survive in coastal, exposed, and windy sites.

Pruning & Care

When you receive your Hawthorn root ball plant, it will need to be planted within a couple of weeks or so and must be well-watered during this time. Do not allow the soil to dry out- this will more than likely damage the roots altogether.̴Ì?

Your Hawthorn hedging should only need to be trimmed twice a year- firstly when its finished flowering, in the Summer, then again near the end of Autumn.
