Azalea 'Blue Danube'
(20/30cm Pot Grown)

Azalea 'Blue Danube' is a dwarf evergreen variety, which produces stunning, pink/purple-coloured flowers during May. Find out more

Blue Danube is the perfect evergreen Azalea shrub which produces delicate flowers on deep green foliage throughout Spring/Summer and can reach an ultimate height and spread of 2.5m x 1.5m within 10-20 years, with its relatively fast growth rate.

It is always best to plant Azalea 'Blue Danube' in partial shade, and in well-draining, slightly acidic soil. Please do not plant too deep as the roots are shallow, and we do recommend adding a lot of peat into the hole before planting, too.

  • Growth rate: Average (20-40cm per year)
  • Ideal height: 2-2.5m Tall
  • Soil type: Clay, loam, sand, acidic
  • Exposure: Sheltered
  • Aspect: Full sun, semi-shade
  • Evergreen foliage? Yes

You should not need to prune your Azalea 'Blue Danube' at all- you will only need to remove the spent flowers, and cut away any dead/diseased branches, where necessary. This must be done in late Spring when the flowering has finished.

Once you've finished pruning, place a bit of Azalea fertiliser down to encourage the best and most healthy new shoots.
