When should I plant Butterfly Bush White Profusion hedging?
Your Butterfly bush can be planted at any time of the year, providing the plants are given enough water when it is warm and they are not planted under freezing temperatures. We recommend planting in spring, when the warm, moist soil is perfect for helping them to establish.
How far apart should I plant Butterfly Bush White Profusion plants?
It is best to plant Buddleja at least 1ft (30cm) apart, particularly when the plants are as small as 20/40cm. You can go for as many as 5 per metre, if wanting a thick bush very quickly, but 3 per metre will also do well.
How to plant Butterfly Bush White Profusion:
Planting your Butterfly Bush is like any other shrub. Begin by digging a hole that is twice as wide as the root ball, but the same depth. Mix the excess soil with some well-rotted compost, organic matter, or manure.̴Ì?
Place the plants into the hole, ensuring the base of the stem is just below ground level. Fill the gaps up with the remaining excess soil, patting down as you go along to secure the plant. Finish off by watering the plant well.
Ensure you keep the soil moist, but not wet, whilst the plant establishes (for the first 1-2 years after planting). You can test the soil to see if it is wet before watering, using your finger, if you are unsure of when to water (we recommend around 2-3 times per week, or more so during dry spells).
